Funding Opportunities

    1. Research and Development 2012-2013 Supplemental Funding Awards - The intent of this award is to improve the quality of life for the people of Hawai‘i County through responsible and sustainable economic, societal and environmental practices in agriculture, tourism, new business development, energy, film resources and community capacity building.  For more information, visit County Funding Resources.

    2. Hawai‘i Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Development Division - Provides matching funds for marketing and promotional programs. Visit their web site for additional information about the services provided by the ADD Market Development Branch.
    3. Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council (BIRC&DC), Hawai‘i Agriculture Development Program (HADP) - Provides funding for agricultural entrepreneurship, value added, marketing start-up and expansion and a wide range of agricultural projects that help bolster the agricultural economy of the island.     4. Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) - Provides financial assistance to primarily the native Hawaiian community. Ag-related community-based projects targeting the native Hawaiian community may qualify for funding.

    5. USDA Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Services (CSREES): Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) Competitive Grants Program - Provides research, education and extension grants and integrated research, extension and education grants that address farm efficiency and profitability, ranching, renewable energy, forestry, aquaculture, rural communities and entrepreneurship, human nutrition, food safety, biotechnology and conventional breeding.     6. USDA Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Services (CSREES): Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Cooperative Grants Program - Provides grants to small business concerns that meets the SBIR eligibility requirements for high quality, advanced concepts research related to important scientific problems and opportunities in agriculture that could lead to significant public benefit if successful.     7. USDA Western Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (WSARE) Competitive grants Program - Provides grants to researchers, agricultural educators, farmers and ranchers, and students in the United States for projects that support agricultural systems that are economically viable, environmentally sound and socially responsible.
