Research and Development Funding Programs
The Department of Research and Development annually solicits proposals for projects or activities that support sustainable economic development for Hawai‘i County in its program areas of agriculture, tourism, film, community capacity building, and new industry. The Solicitation for Proposals reflects the Department's goals to support economic development programs proposed by community organizations, research and educational institutions and government agencies.

County of Hawai‘i Annual Nonprofit Grant Program
Each year prior to November 30, the County Finance Department announces availability of funding and begins accepting nonprofit grant applications. The Hawai‘i County Council reviews all eligible applications and and determines which nonprofit agencies will receive awards. The deadline for proposal submission is now closed.
Annual Nonprofit Grant Guidance and Application
Office of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) - Administered by the County of Hawai‘i Office of Housing and Community Development
During the last quarter of each calendar year, the Office of Housing and Community Development announces a notice of funding availability for CDBG programs. The CDBG program provides grants and loans to units of general local government and eligible private non-profit entities to meet housing and community development needs. the primary objective of the program is the development of viable communities, including decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income.
