Hawaii County Community Development Plan: Civic Engagement Report
The Community Development Planning (CDP) process is the largest participatory community planning initiatives in the history of Hawai’i County. Civic engagement, a key component of the CDPs, allows for a closer partnership between local government and community, an essential ingredient for a healthy democracy. The report track the data on public participation. The measurements also acknowledge local citizens’ passion and commitment to preserve and enhance their neighborhood, town, and region’s ‘sense of place’. Finally, this report summarizes latest civic engagement and wellbeing research, community participation approaches, and the impact of CDPs.
